I recently moved to Seattle from Portland, where I still commute to play in indie pop band New Century Schoolbook. When I’m not doing things music related, I’m going to grad school online, reading, and playing Scrabble.

Speaking of music related things, recently, I’ve been pretty excited about Seattle band Kids & Animals, who I saw open for Smile Brigade on Aug. 7. They’re young enough that at least some of them weren’t allowed to stay in the bar area when they weren’t playing, but the singer has a gorgeously world-weary, cigarettes and whiskey kind of voice, and they put on a fun, exuberant live show. According to their Myspace, they’re going on hiatus after the end of August – I hope they’re back soon.
